SCCA Texas Region Solo #4 June 14, 2009 at TMS Bus Lot, Justin, TX. Fun event, but very hot! Bus Lot was slick as usual, but a wide open course made for some great runs. 1st event for me this year with the SCCA folks, good to see some familiar faces. I'll probably make it to one more Bus Lot event this year, so if I didn't get a shot of you, maybe next time. I co-drove Robert Alston's Mustang. Thanks again Robert! It was a lot of fun to drive and Gary Kramar got a few shots of me taking it out. Thanks Gary. He also took a few of the shots just before or after the shots of me, so if its your car, make sure to thank him. The car handled better than I expected, it was the 1st time I had driven one of the current Mustangs "in anger." I think with some practice, I could get pretty quick in one of them. There are 785 shots, I ran in the 1st heat so there aren't many from there, but I got a lot of folks in the 2nd and 3rd heats. I brought out a new camera, a Nikon D300 I just picked up. I did most of the grid shots with a new D80 to replace a previous one and I used the D300 out on course. I need to get better lenses as the shots below show how lacking my currents lenses are. Oh well, some of the shots came very nice in spite of the inferior glass and me being new to the D300. I got a pretty cool sequence of the F-Body spinning. The D300 is a helluva camera and I hope to learn all the great things it can do.... Terry and Amy Fair took some pics (including me running the Mustang, Thanks!) http://www.vorshlag.smugmug.com/gallery/8558939_pA9Us#563709994_dpM9J FullSolo.com also came out to cover the event. http://www.fullsolo.org/videos/coverage/view/235178-texas-region-scca-autocross-4 Click on a thumbnail below to view the 1300X870 version. |

I try to get pictures of as many cars as possible and/or things I find funny or interesting, I also experiment with different camera perspectives and multi-shot sequences. If I missed your car, it was not on purpose. I get shots as I can while I am working my regular duties at the events and trying to race a car. Also, I am not a professional photographer; I do this because I enjoy taking pictures and this is why I post the 800X600 (and larger) versions free without any watermarks. I now charge for larger resolution/formats of the pictures I take to help pay for the cost of the pictures/equipment and the site. | ||||||||
